Vrbo is now everywhere. I see ads for these amazing houses on TV, on social media, and occasionally even on the streets. So it felt fitting to see what the buzz is all about. During this exploratory research about the company I ended up creating a list of 10 impressive Vrbo rentals in Canada, let me know which you like most!
But first, a few basics about Vrbo*.
Vrbo stands for “Vacation Rentals By Owner”. The company focuses on finding spaces where families can relax, connect, and celebrate. Since its inception in 1995, the company has grown into a library of 2+ million homes around the world.
For travelers Vrbo offers:
- The host never stays on the property so you have all the privacy you might want
- Security deposit and comprehensive payment protection
- Emergency rebooking assistance
- Disclosure of any monitoring devices at a home
- A secure communication platform that protects you from phishing and identity theft
- 24-hour customer support seven days a week via online chat and telephone
For this list, I was looking for unique spaces in cool locations, with exciting decor, features, or amenities. Each of them is unique and exciting. So let’s get into it! Image each image is followed by the property description.
Note: All prices were pulled in the winter and therefore might be different later in the year.
All images are the property of the homeowners.

Location: Winnipeg, near Riding mountain gates
Bedrooms: 2 bedrooms, 3 beds (King, Queen, sleeper sofa), sleeps 5
What I love about it: This is a brand new Vrbo 1050-square-foot cabin. Aside from the obvious amazing open, modern design, there is also a private hot tub. You can also walk to a nearby town called Wasagaming for shopping, dining, and a beach. In the area are also a few parks and golf courses. The reviews on the property so far are nearly impeccable.

What I love about it: Ok where do I even begin! The pool? The hot tub? The location? The cottage is set on the waterfront, 150 feet away from a private beach. Eight guests would sleep in the main house and four guests in the house. The kitchen is also very well set up with an island and all the necessary amenities and modern appliances.

Relaxing retreat in the country
Location: Perth East, Ontario
Bedrooms: 2 bedrooms, 3 beds (x2 Queen, sleeper sofa), sleeps 5
What I love about it: This very cozy cabin with an interior balcony is just about 15min away from Stratford. I love the barn doors and the indoor fireplace, all the decor touches are very nice. There is a balcony and a deck with a BBQ for dining outside. The property is situated near a forested area, close to many hiking trails. The reviews are all wonderful.
Log Home waterfront
Location: Gimli, Manitoba
Bedrooms: 4 bedrooms, 6 beds (x3 Queen, Double), sleeps 15
What I love about it: A log home on the lake with an indoor fireplace. The all-wood interior is pretty cozy. The outdoor area has a large deck and a firepit. If you’re lucky, you might even see some Northern Lights from the hot tub. Reviews point out that the home is very well-equipped. Near the Vrbo are a few provincial parks and a beach as well as a golf course.
Our Basecamp For Adventure In Banff And The Rockies
Location: Municipal District of Bighorn, Alberta
Bedrooms: 5 bedrooms, 8 beds ( Queen, Twin, x2 Double, murphy, bunk bed), sleeps 10
What I love about it: A stunning ranch house at the base of Banff mountains, just between Calgary and Banff/Canmore. The building is historic and has been around since 1889 but has been visibly renovated not too long ago. In the Vrbo is an open-concept main house with 2 adjacent hexagons and a guest house with 4 bedrooms. In the common area is a large wood-burning fireplace and all windows look out into nature. The cover image is of the same property.

It’s 1,800 square feet with direct access to the water and an outdoor fire pit. You can even bring your pets, up to 2 cats or dogs of any size. It’s your typical dream cottage Vrbo type of rental.
Cozy Country Cottage with Games Room

What I love about it: A fairly isolated cottage in Trillium Woods, with lots of privacy and nature. Recently renovated, has nice decor, and a very cool games room. In the Vrbo is a pool table and other games in this well-lit room looking out into the woods. My favorite part about this rental is all the windows.

What I love about it: Neatly decorated apartment with a private balcony and a sauna overlooking the city. There is also a nice sitting area for dining and replacing outside. The interior of the Vrbo is quite unique due to the age of the building. The reno is fairly recent and modern. This two-bedroom is located in the heart of Old Québec, close to many amenities and attractions. Some other Québec ideas can be found here. One parking spot is included.
